Platform Engineer - Integrations

At Appwrite, we're looking for a Platform Engineer to join our integrations team. You'll play a key role in building scalable, reliable systems that power the growth of our platform and user base. You'll work on backend services, data pipelines, and automation tools that enable experimentation, user acquisition, retention, and performance optimization.

This role involves collaborating closely with product, platform, and growth teams to develop systems that support growth initiatives, payment integrations, and analytics infrastructure. As an active member of our open-source community, you'll contribute to discussions and own projects from concept to deployment. Responsibilities

• Own billing and payments end-to-end, ensuring every transaction is accurate, secure, compliant, and audit-ready
• Design, build, and scale highly-available APIs and backend services that power every corner of the Appwrite platform
• Develop and maintain reusable IaC modules using tools like Terraform to manage environments across multiple cloud providers
• Build internal tooling to accelerate testnet creation, streamline deployments, and manage configurations across multiple clusters
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to integrate new services seamlessly into our architecture
• Ship intuitive front-end features in our Console, giving developers clear insight into usage, billing, and integrations
• Ensure systems are observable and secure from day one through metrics, tracing, alerts, and policy-as-code that meet or exceed industry standard
• Monitor service health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for cost, latency, and reliability
• Contribute to a great developer experience through automation, reliable infrastructure, and well-maintained documentation
• Stay informed about the latest in cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and distributed systems, and apply relevant innovations to the team

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend, cloud, or infrastructure-heavy roles
• Strong experience working with Kubernetes
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
• Solid experience with one or more cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure, or DigitalOcean
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and tools like GitHub Actions
• Strong understanding of backend development with languages such as PHP, Node.js, Python, Dart, Go, or Ruby
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, as well as message brokers like RabbitMQ and caching solutions like Redis
• Deep understanding of web protocols (HTTP, TCP, UDP) and modern architectural patterns
• Experience working on growth-oriented backend systems and billing/payment infrastructures is a plus
• A passion for open-source, developer tools, and clean, maintainable code
